The recruitment businesses and individuals recognised in last week’s Global Recruiter Asia Pacific Awards, headline sponsored by Daxtra, have been reacting to their success.
“Strategy is often easier than tactics and so to win the GR's prestigious award naming Gravitas as the Best Specialised Agency in Asia is a proud moment in our history,” said Daniel Wallis, founder and managing director, Asia for Gravitas. “Over the last six years we have built a business that now covers over thirty insurance niches across two Asian offices. The growth of our service niches, our growth in general, and this recognition demonstrates that our mission statement set six years ago is being realised. That means a great deal to us a company, as specialism is embedded within our core.
“The journey however is long, with our mission far from complete,” he continued. “With further insurances niches identified and a replicable model enabling geographic expansion we maintain a clear mission, strategy and tactic plan that remains true to our inception six years ago.”
Karen Tok, CEO of ScienTec Consulting placed her company’s success in three Award categories within the context of the past 12 months: “This year has been a great year for us,” she said. “We have increased the number of key accounts and small-sized RPO projects, both of which cannot succeed without strong strategic planning and project management. We are glad that our focus on in-depth understanding of our clients’ businesses and coming up with out-of-the-box solutions to overcome their challenges, are now paying off – recruitment services go beyond understanding clients’ requirements and presenting relevant resumes.
“Gaining recognition for these categories inspires us to continually deliver innovative solutions to meet and fulfil our clients’ needs. I would like to thank Global Recruiter and our clients for these awards,” she concluded.
Annie Yap, group MD and chief strategy officer of Life Science Board explained how their success highlighted the business’ desire to make a difference to the industry it serves: “Our vision to start Life Science Board was to add value to society as the portal specialises in this sunrise and life saving industry,” she said. “We wish to be the branding and marketing agency for the industry to attract more talent to join us. Being recognised by our peers at the Global Recruiter Asia Pacific Awards was indeed an extraordinary moment. We aim to be a game changer by developing our patent pending Smart Profiling Engine (SPE). The Engine has an algorithm that emulates an experienced recruiter shortlisting and filtering CVs. That will help users to be much more efficient to filter through tons of CVs.”
Looking to the future, Yap said she would like to see Life Science Board as the number one place in people's minds when they were looking for a job in the life sciences industry.
At SThree, regional sales director Stuart Clark reacted to his company’s stand-out performance winning Best Overseas Operation and sales team manager Manjit Kaur gaining a Highly Commended for Best Recruitment Consultant: “I am extremely proud to be a part of our Singapore team and to have won these awards,” he said. “The past years haven’t always been plain sailing but we’ve constantly grown our team, all of whom have worked tirelessly to maximise the success of our region.
“I am excited for the future opportunities we’ll be creating for our customers and playing our part in driving the industry forward."
"It came as a pleasant surprise to be highly commended as best recruitment consultant of the year which is a huge motivation for me to uphold the high standards a recruiter should offer and create a difference in this industry," commented SThree’s Manjit Kaur. “The Global Recruiter Asia Pacific Industry Awards have grown in popularity over the years as the sector increasingly appreciates a set of awards that represents a recognition for recruiters.
“Participation in such awards was no easy feat and required a good preparation," says Kaur. "For me, it was a good four years of prep. This meant consistent optimal customer service, the demonstration of strong leadership with my team and making a difference within the industry. It was consistently going the extra mile for my clients, candidates and even my own team.”
Finally Michael Smith, managing director, Randstad Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia reflected on his company’s success in the category of Best Use of Social Media and Best Large Recruitment Business: “At Randstad, we are highly committed to our mission of ‘shaping the world of work’,” he said. “This encompasses every single thing we do – from helping candidates find their dream job to empowering organisations to achieve their goals – be it through direct interaction with our consultants, or through our thought-leadership initiatives.
“Most recently, we have been embracing a 'Tech and Touch' vision - where we focus our efforts into the integration of digital into all aspects of our business,” he said. “This digital integration is changing how we engage and work with our clients, and transforming the way our corporate support teams support the business.
“We're incredibly proud to say that it is through the strong support of our clients and candidates, as well as the hard work and passion of all our employees, that have allowed us to stand out from the competition and be recognised as a leader in the recruitment space – both offline and online.”
The Global Recruiter Asia Pacific Awards will be back again next year. Entries open April 1st 2017.
